Save you're money and buy a good second hand Hilux. It will be way cheaper, and lets face it. When reality bites big budget builds rarely go ahead. Shame, because I was hoping you would be the first one to actually pull off the mammoth build that we hear people saying they will do and then they...

And there we have it, Losh is doing it by the guidelines in the manual and now no one can say a thing. Yet when the mobs think they can give him **** about doing it because are all apparently right and are proven wrong they have nothing to say on the matter. Pfffft, thought as much!

Best get an estimate from a panel shop near you for a price, rather than asking members to pull out their guessometers and use their ex-ray vision to determine the extent of repairs needed that can't be seen from a photo.

I rest my case. That is interesting, it would seem that what I do is within the guidelines of what the manual states. Feel free to send me your likes for doing it within what GM says, or is it a case of.....?

I have a leak behind the water water pump.

Yep as above the oring will square off from heat and time. It tricked me a few years ago too.

Minus 1deg this morning on my travel. Today I felt the cold through my helmet vents. Not sure I can ride in anything colder. Icecream headache was bad. Going to try some dish detergent or potato and see if I can close my top vents.

    Joke of the Day

An old married couple no sooner hit the pillows when the old man passes gas and says, 'Seven Points.' His wife rolls over and says, 'What in the world was that?' The old man replied, 'its fart football.' A few minutes later his wife lets one go and says, 'Touchdown, tie score...' After about...

I'll probably do it again against the advice. I plan another trip to Adelaide sometime in the next 2-3 years. Probably do it twice on my trip too, once there and once back. Don't plan on doing any other time soon. Its been a while since I've filled the ute anymore than 3/4. I only put in...

I'll try it tomorrow night. I've locked up the shed now and not going back out in the freezing cold when I will be in bed in the next 20 mins., hahahaha. Makes sense we used to do this with our goggles and snorkel when spear fishing.

what did you do to your car today?

Don't look much different. But they wouldn't hold. The local garage has a few different compressors including a jig and it just slipped. No one locally could get the springs out. Pedders was one of the few places with gear to do it. It was a pain as it took me almost a week to get them done...

what did you do to your car today?

I have all the gear to do the fronts and have helped when mine were done at my house. Don't know that I could do it on my own yet. The rears are a different story again. I tried to compress the springs but the spring compressor just slipped. Took it to a local garage who have a pretty kitted out...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

The bike shop I use had great reviews, plus an old PO went there once so I thought I'd give them a go. First time was the rear brake, which on the Sprint are notorious for being spongy, and unless you have the equipment and know the trick to getting all the air out it will remain spongy. I...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

What's a balance stand? I have a thing that goes through the rear hub and lifts the back wheel. I do some basics on the bike but even then I didn't tension the chain up right, so the money I thought I saved in labour I had to pay last week to have it redone.

Nope, this ( https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/things-that-leave-you-gobsmacked-in-a-good-way.295239/ ) is where I will post that. Difference being I won't start and argument in that thread, like some do, as it's about happy stuff not doom and gloom. Having said that at the end of...

Yeah a mate over 35 years ago filled his fathers Val to the top of the neck. Few mins later there was a puddle on the ground. He thought something was damaged but no, somehow those old 70s cars would spew it out somewhere if it was overfull.

As long as it's not raining and not freezing cold it's quite good to commute using the bike. Especially now that we are allowed to lane filter, and get to piss off all those driving their SUV's who hate it when we get in front of them at the lights.

what did you do to your car today?

Unlikely, but for someone like yourself who can probably replace a side in an hour, probably worth seeing how long they do last.

That's what I thought, so then how does the fuel get sucked into the canister with the engine running? I was of the understanding it can trickle in over a period with the engine shut off, but not really with the engine running. Or can it be sucked through into the canister from the tank with the...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Yeah that's the plan. Bike rear tyres don't last terribly long on the road so I will wear the centre out to the wear marks and then buy a pair of tyres and have the rear hub greased at the same time to save overall. It would be unlikely that I would ever push my bike hard enough on the road to...

Yeah but are you saying that with the engine running its going to suck petrol from the tank into the canister?

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

One thing for sure I don't feel super confident riding in 1deg and lower temps. I just don't know if I will hit a slippery patch and lose the back wheel. Currently running five year old PR II radials too and if I was racing I wouldn't use anything over three years old. Mate I bought the bike off...

I have a leak behind the water water pump.

I don't think you will get one from Holden anymore as they no longer list one for Series II V6. You're best bet will be a bearing shop and grab two or three orings that look about right and use the one that fits tight but not so tight it won't go in with a bit of lube. Repco or Burson might...

I happy to have a read but where would I find this info? In the owners manual? I also get what you're saying but this to implies that the system is operating two ways with the engine running? Or how could it draw in petrol as I believe the system is designed to operate one way when the engine...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Yep side hits are common here too. I only hit one roo IIRC in the VR ute. I had a loop bar and it saved me. I was like 2km from home just on dark, and a big one did one bounce from the side of the road to the middle of my front bar and landed on the grass past the gravel footpath on the other...

Show me that and then I will believe it. I only searched the first page of Google and nothing came up from car manufacturers explaining the implications of what can happen if you fill it to the brim and drive it for the next few hours. I believe it when I see qualified evidence.

    My HSV Clubsport

Why I say the posts are all uneducated guesses are because they claim the fuel can get sucked through the evap canister from the tank but from what I understand this is not quite right, as the evap only allows flow one way when the engine is running. So it doesn't make sense that petrol is...

    My HSV Clubsport

Could well be that. I looked on Google and it was just a bunch of uneducated guesses throwing around a bunch of thoughts they had heard from a mate, who's other mate, had a brother who was a mechanic 40 years ago.
  33. L

    My HSV Clubsport

From what I understand it's more of an issue, if you brim it and park it. I could be wrong but I don't think it matters a lot if your filling up to the brim and then continuing on your 900-1000km journey straight away?

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Yeah, I used to drive 1..25hrs to work each day, five days a week. Round trip was about 200km. Some of that was on gravel and the rest bitumen. 3/4 of the trip was spent in minus 4-7s for five-six months of the year. Used to rack up 50k a year, don't miss that trip. A friend did the same trip...

  38. L

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Wow, and the biggest issue we have here is a 5-6min delay because of a new road getting built outside the new school getting built. Still an 80km round trip to work and back.

    For @losh1971

I've saved it in my watchlist. Won't be buying it but I am keen to see if it sells. Might give me an idea on sale price on mine if I ever decide to move it. Thanks Lex.
