Seeing things like this makes my blood boil. It is the worst nightmare of anyone who owns a nice car. It appears to be a completely unprovoked act which was done for no other reason but jealousy.
I'm so glad they caught this obese piece of scum. The media should be naming and shaming her instead of blurring out her face.
If she did that to my car I would be going to jail for what I would do to the fat piece of s**t.

No blurring of her face here in NZ :)

I hope she gets what she deserves. The whole point of the modern public justice system is that it is public and naming and shaming is part of that punishment, to many people get away with hiding their identity these days because of the effects it might have on their family. I say **** them and their family, if all criminals were named and shamed more might think twice before committing a crime.

Until she's convicted they'll hide her identity, just in case it influences the justice procedure or if she's found not-guilty.

The camera doesn't lie, I can't really see her being found not guilty

Yep, agree in this instance - it appears to be a pretty cut-and-dried case.

The code is there to cover all instances though, where it may not be so obvious. You wouldn't want to face a jury that had been unfairly influenced by a social media campaign, or by a person that only presented one side of the argument.

Yip people like this should be giving 5 years minimum in jail, I also hate when they open their car door and allow it to hit and rub against your paint, respect is gone in this life, I seen people on the news stealing plants and other stuff in your front yard not bolted down.

I remember reading some psychological stats some time ago that went along the lines of 10% would never commit a crime cause it’s fundamentally wrong, 10% will always commit a crime cause they don’t care and have no respect for the law but 80% would commit a crime if they thought it was profitable and they thought they would get away with it.

Caning vandals and graffiti artists would go a long way to stopping this sort of 80% opportunistic crime because changing behaviour to avoid pain is an effective motivator ;) And it’s much much cheap to administer that jail... heck the victim should have 1st dibs at whipping good

Like Malaysian Sharia law ? It might work, but then we would be up for the counselling costs of the guilty b******* for the rest of their lives.
Public humiliation, pain and hurt, unable to work or socialise, PTSD.
Geez, the First Fleet would have been 50% convicts and 50% psychologists if it arrived today.

Sadly the Do Gooders have the upper hand here and it's never going to revert back to Capital punishment due to the shite childhood they seem to have always had and the Judges take into account.

And nor should it....killing someone for a crime is somewhat over the top.

Nah. that's got way too much baggage. A simple caning for imple vandalism crimes isn't going to extreams... Lopping off ones hand as @gossy questioned is also too much...
Yep, and the hypothetical 'modern first fleet' composition would say all there needs to be said about how we've gone off track as a civilised society

Wonder if you'd think the same if it was your baby, sleeping in their pram, that was run over by some Gargasoulas type nut job.

In my view some people are beyond redemption and deserve to be forced organ doners  though i do conceed that's a slippery slope o_O

Public naming and shaming should be first and foremost, having "thief" or "rapist" or what ever crime you have been convicted off flashing over the top of your facebook page, your Linkin account and what ever other online profiles for a set period of time you have will soon have people thinking twice about their behaviour.

If found to be guilty and you have 100% documents and proof then I would say capital punishment will make people think twice of committing crimes such as rape and child sexual assaults which should be a given, those committing terror and murder who got life should be put down they are a drag on our taxes, 105k for a male per year, youth detention 145k, women 125k, that's around 30 people on a pension for a year, put the fair out there commit such crimes auto death sentence.

Prisoners should be made to work for their upkeep. No work, no food/blankets/heating etc. If I want to eat I have to work...
