This is on my Cross 8, regular models will need the front wheel removed. If you can’t do that safely, don’t do this job.

Remove the bloody Phillips head scrivets. Start by getting some tension on them. Hold the base or use a pry tool to stop it spinning.

Once it starts coming out, use the trim pry tool to get some purchase under it. Give it some curry and it comes out. Chuck them away. We won’t be using them again.

Next we do the screws. I did it this way because I left the wheel on and couldn’t turn it (having the back up on stands.)

Then the 10mm hex head 14 gauge screws need to come out.

The plastic wheel well can be manoeuvred out.

Now we can see the antenna motor.

Many non elec antenna models will have the plug there anyway. Plug and play peeps.

1. Undo the plug

2. Undo the earth screw

3. Undo the 13mm bolt.

Mine had the mast up, and the wheel on, so I cut the mast to be able to remove it with the wheel on.

Next you remove the interior kick panel, and glove box. On some models, you need to remove various computers from here too.

I had to remove one to gain access to the antenna plug.

Most don’t come with a grommet. We can reuse the old one. It won’t come off un-lubed.

I used my favourite lubricant, pop up sprinkler lube. This is the shizz and it leaves anything else for dead. It’s better than all of them. Available from your local retic shop for about $10-15.
Once sprayed on, it comes off over the cable easier than your mum.

I measured back where the old one was on the antenna cable in case it helps anyone. Because the grommet was a bit how ya going, I used some sealant on it after it was cleaned and conditioned with Aerospace 303.

Next is the best bit!

Installation is a reversal of the removal process.

No Wheel off FU ! :D

You have done that before ! ;)

Your cheating !, that on your Cross 8,
which has a bit more room in the Wheel Arch/Well to remove the inner guard. ;)

Great write up Fu - thanks. I'm going to have a crack at replacing rhe mast in mine - will have to document the process. I would go down the same route - but I was given a mast and rope so the price is right and I am the inquisituve type.

Those with a keen eye will notice I put the grommet on back to front.
Had to reseal everything again after swapping it round.

Reversal of the installation procedure happened late today.

The new motor was slightly different but fit correctly. It had a spare bracket with the earth wire attached. It might be for VT or VX? I just repositioned it where it’s not going to foul on anything.

Also check the screws etc are all tight.

I pulled apart the old one.

If you are planning to repair the old one, here’s what it’s like inside.

I dare say, you could source a new motor even.

Someone else will complete that one. No doubt new fixings will be needed.
