New seats have been hit with leather dye to bring them closer to the factory VR grey. For anyone interested they are WH Series 1 seats with modified rails. So much more comfortable than the old calais seats, managed to find them in reasonable nick and clean them up, condition them, re-colour them and make up some wiring harnesses to retain some of the electrics all for about $300.

Tune is done, feels much stronger between 1800-3000RPM (there was a fair few flat spots with the old tune and the new cam).

It seems bloody strange someone posted a modified bin file but left the program ID standard. It's the first thing I change and save before doing any other changes to ensure it's done correct or it'll catch you out at a later date.

If you migrate to 11p in the future all that stuff has been done so you can start tuning to your heart's content.

    Yeah, thats the plan.

I've got this one running and tweaked ooookish to keep the car going for now, but I've started playing with 11p to get the full functionality out of it down the track

    Update time:

So COVID-19 has hit my industry exceptionally hard and as such I've taken a voluntary drop from full time to 2.5 days a week for the next 6 weeks which has given me a lot of shed time.

I picked up a set of 3.45 gears for the diff for $40 which I'm going to put in for now, down the track once things start to come back to normal I'll look at rebuilding the diff with a new set of 3.7's or 3.9's.

I've made up some wiring looms for the electric seat motors in the new seats and also stripped the cluster down with a replacement set of working LCD's as mine had almost given up the ghost completely.

Restored some Caprice badges for the grille and garnish.

Completely forgot I had a spare IRS diff in the scrap metal pile, brought it in, stripped it down.

I'm going to put the 3.45's in this as a very basic mod that way if I mess it up or it's unhappy I still have a good diff which I'll get rebuilt properly down the track.

As this diff cost me nothing, it's a good learning experience if nothing else.

Nice, are you doing new bearings at the same time?

Just the pinion bearing as I couldn't get it off the old pinion without ruining it.

The others actually look really good, I'll be doing new seals right round though as the diff was pretty leaky when it was last used.

Might find a rebuild kit is under $200 anyway. How much are all the seals plus a pinion bearing?

I already had a new set of seals and a new pinion bearing is around $35-40, I did look into rebuild kits however as this is just a temporary diff thats probably going to be used for 6-8 months I really couldn't justify it at around $180.

Diff is back together & housings painted and looking like new. Pinion preload is set, just waiting for a dial gauge and some lapping paint to come in the post so I can make sure it's all in spec before throwing it back in.

Fingers crossed it should be back in by the end of the week.

Make sure you get that carrier preload cranked up a bit otherwise it'll chatter heaps on coast.

Just waiting on the gasket sealant to cure overnight then she goes back in tomorrow and I find out if it explodes or not.

Diff's in and running, took it for a good 100km run down to one of our suppliers today.

I ended up finding an LSD centre on marketplace which I threw in as well, it's like an entirely different car to drive now, definately helps to get up in the cams RPM range nice and quickly off the line.

Haven't started the car for couple of weeks between COVID and the first real rain of the year.

Everyone loves a cold start vid, heres the flowmaster + 276 in 9 degree weather, cold starts aren't her thing (blame the tuner not the car :p)

No video unfortunatley, just audio, headphones recommended.

In the 8 or so years I've owned the car I've played with probably 10 different exhaust setups to get it how I wanted it, the Flowmaster is hands down the best sound so far, and pretty reasonably priced too.

Well thanks for saving me all that time money haha.

Na that's awesome that I'm not the only one who does things a stupid amount of times until I get exactly what I want. Most people just put up with whatever they get in life and live with it. Persistence.
