    That being said though if I'm going to that length it's probably better doing that to a fresh engine than one thats got 220k

    [QUOTE="gtrboyy, post: 3068856,

    Can't wait to get vp ute on 60 day rego in 3 years...then will turn into an angry weekender.[/QUOTE]

    Same , although I have to wait a bit longer = still 6 years 96 VS ( dam nsw )!!!!!
    Hoping to anyway but need another block ( and money) = so keep Maloo matching # block for stock= options.
    Was and still thinking na but ( If coin was absolutely no object) that harrop 2300 supercharger 355 = 750 odd crank hp and a shxtton of low down torque would be stupidity/ ridiculously entertaining in a weekender/ streetcar / VS ute

    Great updates. How did I miss out on the fun.
    I like the stall advice, as that is next on my list.

    268 valve train is out, new one will go in next week once I'm back from Sydney and it should be ready for break in next weekend.

    Cam swaps done.

    Broke it in yesterday and took it for a nice long drive today, it's still running on the 268 tune so I haven't pushed it hard but so far it actually feels nicer to drive even with stock comp than the 268 did and seems to be a lot more torquey.

    The idle sounds amazing, more than enough lope to keep me happy but not enough that it will attract too much unwanted attention.

    I'll aim to get some vids over the next couple of weeks.

    The plan is to keep enjoying it for the last couple of months of decent weather then start on the paint and diff build.

    Just the standard 0 degrees, good to have the adjustibility for down the track though.

    Yeah to be honest, I didn't expect it to drive as well as the old 268 did on the street, let alone it running better. Should be even better once the 3.9's go in.

    Took it for a run today, got a cold start video with the new cam, sounds awesome. (use headphones or decent speakers).

    Also finally got around to picking a spare engine up from a mate who needed to move it on.
    VS Senator engine (185, knock sensor etc) - 160,000km, it's been sitting in his shed for about 10 years.

    The plan for this one is as discussed in earlier in the thread, I keep running what I have for now. But over the next 12 months I'll slowly rebuild this one.

    Plan so far:
    * Hot tank/acid bath the block at Lewis Engines down the road.
    * Hone the block.
    * New main, rod and cam bearings
    * new welch plugs
    * LT1 springs.
    * Crane 284 (or a better camtech grind pending research).
    * .30 thou skimmed heads
    * Flat top pistons (pending budget).

    Then it should be a mean cruiser with a bit of extra comp.

    It will just stay on the stand when it's done, as soon as anything goes wrong with my existing engine (rear seal, bearing, oil pressure, valve train etc). I'll have the new one ready to swap in.

    Keen to get started on the strip down and see how she's faired being such low km.

    Wish I had your skill. Still more I'd like to upgrade on my Buick engine and trans but its beyond my confidence level these days.

    Butt dyno says power is relatively the same (maybe 4-5kw more if anything) but the torque is definitely a lot better, from about 1800rpm it just pulls like a freight train.

    Yeah, I've compared the 268 map and the 276 maps on PCMHacking and it's actually not that wildly different but I'm gonna start having a play in TunerPro myself rather than sending it off again. It's been something I've wanted to learn for a while now.

    I've already got an ALDL cable for live data and have TunerPro with Holden bins that I've been having a fiddle with and it's all pretty straight forward so I just need to get a memcal burner/programmer.

    Took the old girl for a 200km round trip to the Barossa and back to tour some wineries today, ran flawlessly and sounded amazing on the open road through the hills, very happy with how it's running and sounding at the moment.

    I've been tweaking a 276 bin from PCMhackers this week in TunerPro and my memcal burner should arrive this week along with a few blank chips to play with.

    Started pulling down the new engine this week and I'm absolutely amazed at how clean this engine is internally for something thats a quarter of a century old, not an ounce of sludge anywhere.

    First step will be to run the block down the road to Lewis Engines to get it hot bathed and acid dipped for a week or so then it can start going back together, I'll get it crack tested at the same time and once I know it's all good to go I'll start ordering bits slowly.
