Anyone tried black shoe polish on interior door levers? The proper gear at Autobarn is $40 and I don't know that it would definitely blacken.

I don't know that there is anything else you can use. I researched what i had hope would work but apparently the Mothers product wont actually blacken. Shame because Mothers is 40% off right now.

This other gear is 40 bucks but will be a lot of cost if it doesn't work.

Take them out and paint them maybe.

I could paint them but they would chip. In the US they have black polish that actually has black colour in it. It is just not available at any car shops that i could find. I have heard that people use shoe polish on mouldings, hence why i am wondering about using it on the interior.

    Hi Losh,

I've seen plenty of good black interior VR door handles here in SA. I never thought there was an issue with them. Honestly just change to the coloured VS units which actually look much better in my eyes or chrome ones if you can obtain them for a sensible figure.

We used to use black permanent marker to cover up scratches on home electronics equipment when we were retailers but not sure how it would go in a high usage environment like a handle. Can't you just grab some from a wrecker?

I could have a look at the wreckers but i don't really want to remove the door vents for a 15th time. Each time they are taken off you risk scratching them. I have already buffed out marks. I bought really good cond vents and don't want to damage them.
I have found the good polish on eBay. I really wanted it this weekend as i have been spending some time on the ute fixing the paint and dents and thought what a great time to fix the levers. I will add it to my watch list and buy it in a few weeks, when i do a mass order.
