I may be wrong, but chrome is chrome isn't it? It's a metalic coating with a copper base, over various substratum right? So the chrome diecast SS & Holden badges are still chrome. Just as chrome over plastic is still chrome. Albeit more prone to delamination. But all chrome work is at risk of this in the wrong conditions. We've moved on from steel bumpers...so I don't accept the whole "faux chrome" point, being a lesser visual effect.
I reckon the chrome on all dark VF's and metalics looks bloody awesome. You don't. Horses for courses. But there is no way I would, nor let one of the plethora of so called professionals out there, strip the chrome off my peacock Redline to replace it with black. Vice versa with my pending red Motorsport.

Yeah true. I hadn't heard the name of of the other colour before. Nor seen the pic. Both awesome greens in my view.

I'm still around, just haven't had a lot to contribute.

We've sold all our special packs and the majority of the hype appears to be over. There's hardly any V8's now remaining unsold and the V6's are essentially saleproof without a discount. BTW Holden is actually paying dealers a bonus on them this month if a customer doesn't take the 0.5% finance offer.

We charge $2,000 dealer delivery, which is inline with the build and price feature on Holden's website.

Do you mean "does" take the finance offer or "doesn't"? The dealer I have been dealing with on an SV6 didn't mention any bonus but were keen to push the finance offer onto me.

TimHayley have you got a bulletin regarding how people reserve what build number they want and the web address to go to? Some DP's have recieved an email outlining this. Are you also aware of photos being taken at factory for customers and then being uploaded onto a database?

Only read about the photos here, haven't heard anything from Holden themselves. Knowing how good they are at organising things (sarcasm noted), this will be a disaster....

Apparently there will be a website where you can try and reserve a build number, not sure how this is going to work exactly.

In other news, Regal Peacock is officially on its last legs. They're having problems with materials supplies and will likely run out of paint prior to June (official date TBC). Caprice is already finished for Regal (they will honour any orders already in the system).

There was a stop sale on Light my Fire a couple of weeks ago, not sure exactly what this was all about, but it has since been lifted.

So you can take the finance offer at effectively RRP (the dealer only has their regular margin to play with) or if you don't take the finance offer the dealer gets paid a bonus, which they can choose to pass on or keep. This is only on V6's, (V8's are exempt from any offers). Remember the finance offer sounds great on paper and will work for some people, but the fine print reads that you need 10% deposit (either in the form of cash or trade-in equity), plus you can only do it over 3 years, which means really high repayments and then these need to fit into the purchaser's capacity to pay these repayments back.

Thanks for the info. I'm not going to do finance. I always avoid any kind of finance but they were keen to push it for some reason. I guess they get a commission? Interesting to know there is some margin for them to move as they were offering bugger all "discount" off rrp and stating similar excuses to V8's being limited numbers allocated etc.

If you don't mind me asking what would you expect to sell a MY17 SV6 for?

Considering a 2016 SV6 Black edition is $38990 drive away, you should aim for just a little bit more than this for a
    2017 SV6.

I imagine come mid year once all the V8's are definitely gone there will be decent discounts on SV6, as they're not moving that quickly. I don't know of anyone who would pay $45k for an SV6. They've been on discount for years now!

Dropped my wife's Cruze off for service this morning and noticed my dealer has an MY17 manual Redline, Light My Fire with a black roof, $64500 d/a. That's about that I paid for my Redline order, but mine has about $2700 worth of options....hmm.

There are now a few of us Melbournians who have purchased vehicles from Adelaide. My understanding is that you arrange a 3 day permit from the SA government that allows you to drive it back to Melbourne. You need to book in an appointment at Vic Roads and pay the rego and stamp duty ($4,300 or so) and pick up the plates. Job done!
Is this correct and has anyone gone through the process before?

Because that's where they can milk a little/ lot more profit. There is absolutely no other justification. Some dealers have apparently already been warned by HOLDEN. There has even been a case of a contract signed, and a dealer then increasing the DD AFTER. A BIG no no and certainly not legal.

My idea of "professional", is a dealer or recommended intaller. If you ended up with broken clips, threaded screws and ill fitting rubber seals, then they certainly weren't a dealer, nor professional.

You are commenting on a "bare door", without seeing the full package. XFORCE exhaust, black badging, black LED surrounds, black fender surrounds, black front surrounds, 20"Hf's, LED lighting, Sports Armour, dark window tint, bee sting aerial, larger rear wing. etc. It ALL looks complete factory. The SS is nothing but a silver looking piece of cheap plastic, Lol.
