No different to a tub liner, I think. With the Raptor urethane coating it should be fine. Plus i normally have the tonneau cover on.

The urethane coatings used to oxidise in the sun quite quick. Like manky old wheels on skateboard trucks.

I had marine carpet in my VP ute on metal for something like 8 years before using a tub liner for so long I lost count of the years. Then I had marine carpet in the tub liner. Not a spec of rust under either the tub liner or carpet.

You mean it dulls off? That won't be a major issue as long as it is a hard coating that is nice and durable. Makes me think I should get the tintable one get it in Alaskan White and not plain white. The base will have carpet and I mostly have the tonneau cover on anyway as it helps conserve fuel.

Hmmm might have to look for some reviews or ask the auto paint supplies if they have sorted this issue.

For more durability you can also put more coats of paint on. More paint can take more wear.

Just done some searching and it looks like i will need to prime the entire tub before painting it out with Raptor. Bugger more cost and more time.
Was hoping i could get it done next weekend too.

Pretty well prepped the tub for the Raptor liner to go in this weekend, all going well with the weather. I want to do it outside if i can as the spatter gun and Raptor will drift like enamel I suspect and end up on everything.
I took advice from paint supplies and have etched a few larger bare spots. For the rubbeds from the old liner i will just surface prime as i don't want to upset the factory 2 pac. I have washed out the tub just not with a sponge and 400 wet n dry as recommended by EYY. I used CT18 to scrub it and as far as i can tell the CT18 contains no wax. Hoping tomorrow eve i can pressure can some surface primer and be ready to blow in the Raptor gear this Saturday.
I need to also remove the tailgate and sandblast the lower seam and coat that as well this weekend. So big weekend ahead. I might need to rope in some help with the tailgate, getting it off and on at least. I also need to pack the right side hinge as it sits in slightly. Must have had a hit in that corner and never fixed 100%. I only need to pack the hing 4-5mm, that should then make everything line up, instead of sitting in on the right corner.

Are you going to spray the lid over the fuel tank separately?
Is it worth getting a seam sealer around the tow bar plate? Or will the spray on liner be enough?

I think Series Ii its a May 94 I think.
Yes i plan to spray all covers separately. I don't want any spray over any joins. I might have leave a 2mm gap around the towbar plates in case i get flex there but will spray it on top.

    Hi Losh,

I will confirm a bit later but I feel you have a Series 1 and in that case it is finished in Acrylic and not Thermo Setting Enamel. (2 Pack)

NEPS (New Enamel Paint Shop as it was referred to) didn't come online until VR Series II

Just looked and May is probably Series I. Therefore it probably has acrylic.

VR Series II would've started production around Late August /September 1994, with the Volume 12 service manual for S2 being issued in October of the same year, basically a month later.

So your ute is definitely S1 with Acrylic Paint.

I actually suspect that the bonnet is VS. I say that because the emblem is the open letter type, where as the wagon had a solid emblem.

Not sure, acrylic does peel if it gets a sharp edge. I hit it with the hose and it lifted. Have to feather it out now and build it with primer/filler and respray it. An hour worth of work regardless. Wish it happened last week. If it did I could have fixed it last weekend while i had the spray gear out.
