If im dumb enough to remove the belt without taking the pulley bolts out I just put a pair of 8mm socket or spanner east west on the pulley wheel and wrench.

I have replaced water pump with a true flow 9000 ,it came with two gaskets for the pump and a spacer for the pulley now I have a squealing noise coming from the pump, dumb question but was I supposed to fit both gaskets when fitting new pump or have I got the wrong pump, cheers

Not likely. The early V6's need to gaskets as they have an extra plate between the pump and the timing cover. Try it without the spacer under the pulley. Squealing noise is most likely the belt/pulley.

Thanks I'll take the spacer out and see how it goes,, when you say belt/pulley do you mean it's possible I need a new belt or a pulley or both, sorry for the dumb question, cheers

Have a look at the pulley and see where the belt is running on it. Most likely an alignment issue between the belt/pulley.

Old thread I know, but I have a tip that may be useful.
Rather than lose coolant when you replace the pump or do other minor work on the cooling system (new hose, thermostat etc) you can drain some coolant down to just below the water pump level by removing the lower right hand (as you face the engine) water pump bolt. It's better if you first remove the drive belt and the idler pulley above the A/C pulley
Make sure the engine is cold, rmove the radiator cap. Place a small funnel under the bolt, and have the other end of the funnel going into a bucket or large flat plastic dish. (I use a oil drain pan).
