Living in Christchurch and I have recently hooked up to a 100/100 connection and thought I would share and compare with what speeds you get in you neck of the woods.

Interesting I spoke to someone in Melbourne and he was gutted at the speed I am getting and said on a good day he got 11Mbit....

But what do you actually get and what do other places get in real speed?
I am a Network guy and trying to get an idea.

Btw here in NZ it definitely dpends on which ISP you use as they vary hugely

lol lucky you :) .... On a sunny day no rain I get about 1/2 meg a sec (5000Kbps) but with the crap weather here Im down to around 4500Kbps to keep my SNR above 6, if I drop the SNR to 0.5 I can get just over 6000Kbps for oh about 30 sec :D ADSL2 but a very long way from the exchange, with underground power and phone Im a long way away from the NBN or cable being rolled out...

I'm in South Auckland, still on ADSL as we don't have fibre yet in our street (and won't for at least another year) but they have fibre the next street over....

I got a fairly crappy old modem too which probably isn't helping things :(

Speed tests show what the local conditions are like, how much load is on the network etc.

MY speed test correlates with what my router shows speed wise.

Speed tests are an indicator if you don't use your ISP as the Server.
I used London Vodafone in the UK for the first test as thats about as far away as possible from NZ
My local connection gets 98 down and 110 up but then its basically an internal connection at 2ms response.

I tried the same server as you, I don't do gaming but I would imagine it would be great for online games. I hope it it gets to you soon :)
