Have had the 15,000 km service this morning, capped price $239. including a free punctured tyre repair which I didn't notice before. The workshop took the wheels off to fix the squealing brake and saw a nail in one of the rear tyres, they repaired it. Apparently Holden has acknowledged the squealing brakes and issued "Insulator-RR Disc Pad" under warranty and the workshop also lubricated Front brake calliper GDE Pin. The result - No more squealing brakes after the service so far, before it squealed when reversing.
As to the cold start clattering, they couldn't hear it this morning and said that if it still happens in the coming days, I will need to leave the ute overnight at the workshop. They noticed the Ryco filter I used for the interim 7,500 km oil change, advice me to use OE filter, saying there is a valve in the OE filter to stop the oil drain back into the sump, but I thought the Ryco filter also has it? On the work sheet, it only says that they are using GM Dexos 2 oil, don't know the exact grade. I will see if the cold start clatters persist in the coming days before finding out what grade of oil the workshop uses.

Over all, I am quite happy with the 15K service, dropped the ute at 7:30 a.m. and got it back at 11 a.m.

Ryco and all other good manufactures all have anti drain back valve...they are full of it.
I woukd ask them exactly what oil they used so you're clear..

I am not suprised they said they did not hear rattling...they would say that...

I was thinking exactly the same when I read that. For the oil filter given the warranty, I'd be inclined to buy genuine. Maybe buy whatever quantity to get you through warranty period for the intermediate changes (save you tripping back to the dealer each time). I don't think there is any problem with the Ryco filter, but for the cost difference you may as well keep them happy in the event you had an engine issue and they throw that back at you.

Now you mentioned, I think Dexos 2 is 5w-40? for diesel engine as well?. Anyway, I shall see if the engine clatters tomorrow morning.

AC Delco Dexos 2 is suitable for petrol and diesel engines. It is fully synthetic and comes in many different ratings. The 5W 40 rating is a new one for diesel Colorado's with oil burn issues.

Dexos 2 is a better oil than Dexos 1 (it's also a lot more expensive).

Cold started the ute this morning, clatter noise were vastly reduced, it was sort of different kind of engine noise for a minute from start then the normal deeper grunting noise afterwards, similar to when I first got the ute. Will try to listen again tomorrow morning but just glad that it wasn't clattering like before. See how it goes in the coming few days before making any judgements.
