What did you do in the shed or garage today

I also was in a sorting mood. The contents of this: Is slowly making its way into these: And I'll get rid of the table as the shelf spacings are awkward and I'll use one of the bays on the racking as a bench.

what did you do to your car today?

Chasing a problem on the speed sensor on the LandCruiser. Speedo keeps jumping even when stationary, got a new sensor but they didn't fix it. Anyway. When I was under there changing it over I noticed the retaining clip and bolt was gone. Thread was borked too. So repaired the thread and...

Given the condition the Hilux seems to be in from a cursory look at the pictures (damage to A pillars caused by rust, chassis rust etc.) I think you need to consider the adage of Grandfather's Axe. How much of the original vehicle will be left once the repairs are done, and what percentage of...

Choice for putting it there was because the floor is already tiled (rest of the room is carpet and rest of house is floating timber flooring) so that location would negate flooring changes. It's also a space we currently don't use because of the bar so wouldn't have to reconfigure the living...

At the bottom right of people's posts is a "reply" button. If you click that it will copy their post and you'll be able to respond to it. Bit less messy and easier to wade through. You can quote multiple people in one post and chop the posts up by hitting enter after the sentence you want to...

I love when people do that. You can usually pick the people that are going to do it too. I've had a few try it and I normally sharpen my turn in and then slam the brakes. There's nothing on the trailer that a car could hurt so it's up to them to decide if they stop or not :p

Yeah it's a bit of a tricky situation with the design of it to get a few things working, need WiFi extenders etc. Being a flat roof I can't even easily duct the heat without making it look absolutely horrible so that's out too. Where I live is also less than an hour from a whole heap of...

Are you going to modify the axle tubes and axles on the Hilux or find something with a similar track width and make it up in offset rims? How bad is the chassis rust? Any chassis repairs will have to be done to take into account the extra weight of the 308 motor and to satisfy an engineer...

You can make that round hole square. It just requires a *very* expensive hacksaw. Engine conversion alone will probably run between $5,000 and $10,000 alone being conservative depending how much he can do himself. (Plus engineering As an example, The motor is the cheap part. LS1 conversions...

Need your opinion/assessment on possible project I'm thinking about ...

Mainly because the Hilux is a ladder frame design and the Commodore is a monocoque. So you would first need to get the 308 engineered into the Hilux chassis and then chop enough of the Commodore chassis away to marry up with the Hilux chassis. Which would require body mountings to be modified...

I'm about to go down the same path for the same reason. Much of our power usage is sucked up by the split systems for heating. In winter when the solar won't be getting the full whack I'd rather burn a few trees than use the battery charge and ultimately peak pricing to heat the house...

what did you do to your car today?

Started removing the exhaust manifold on the GTI to replace the gasket. Some choice words and threats of waging another war on our German friends were made. One of the exhaust studs sits behind the stud for the downpipe. Which means it's a spanner to remove situation. But that isn't even the...
