You couldn’t pay me enough to have to waste 2hrs+ a day of my time commuting to work.
That's the reason my son quit his last job. He spent an average of 4 hours a day commuting to work then to customer breakdowns then home again. He was on big dollars but he had enough of the travelling.
One customer was in Sydney so he was up at 5.00a.m to fly from Melbourne to Sydney, drive to customer to fit a part and reprogram the computer then fly home . Then fight his way through peak hour traffic. Plus being questioned by airport security as to why he had 3 laptops and 2 phones in his carry-on baggage.

Wow, and the biggest issue we have here is a 5-6min delay because of a new road getting built outside the new school getting built. Still an 80km round trip to work and back.

I have 70km each way, I wave to the school bus driver in a small town at the halfway point each morning and that's the only other vehicle I see most days, along with hundreds of Roos. Gives me time to digest podcasts and music, reflect, and Three Quarters of the year I ride my Harley, so I consider it quality time personally.
Same amount of time it used to take me to commute 9km when I lived in Melbourne. Horses for courses.

The commute to and from work was the best part of my work days. Fairly much not long after starting they knocked any enthusiasm out of you.

I was damn good at my job, easily on the best in NZ but the company ruined it and not just for me. After all the **** went down and we talked about it months later many others were off the same opinion, been made redundant was probably the best outcome for most of us when it came to physical and mental health!

The office full of negative co-workers
Waking up happy, 70km commute to work, only to have your spirit broken by whiners in the first 10 minutes.
This is where selective hearing comes into play...... ;)

I have become a master at it

Yeah, I used to drive 1..25hrs to work each day, five days a week. Round trip was about 200km. Some of that was on gravel and the rest bitumen. 3/4 of the trip was spent in minus 4-7s for five-six months of the year. Used to rack up 50k a year, don't miss that trip. A friend did the same trip for 15 years. Her car was a wreck from hitting so many roo's. She would take over 1.5 hours each way as she drove a lot slower than I used to. Not a trip for a bike, that's for sure too much ice on parts of the road. I went over a bank and hit a tree at fairly slow speed when I hit ice going down a steep hill on the same gravel road. The tree saved my life or from at least serious injury.

Was about 0 here this morning just before I left on the Sprint. Heated gloves have made a massive difference, as has some wet weather pants, and textile jacket with a vest over the top. Still having issues with visor fogging up and I have the vents open. I also have to crack open the visor to the first notch or it will fog up. I need to find out if there is anything that stops the visor fogging up besides more air as it's pretty cold on your face when your moving in 2deg - 0s and colder.
